The one before the one everybody has.
Signal-Stat's 900 Sigflare is the switch you see at every swap meet. This is the 600 "Sigaide" — the earlier design, and a good deal harder to come across. Cast housing embossed SIGNAL-STAT 600 SIGAIDE, SIGNAL-STAT CORP., NEW YORK – TORONTO, with the chromed lever and its green indicator jewel on the end.
It's new old stock and has never been installed — no mounting marks on the housing, no wear on the lever, and the wiring loom is still coiled as it came.
One thing to know before you buy: the clamp that secures the switch to the steering column is not included. Everything else is here and unused. It's an easy fix — a standard hose clamp does the job, which is exactly what the cheap modern reproductions ship with anyway — but it isn't in the box and you should know that going in.
🔧 Features and Details
- 🎯 Signal-Stat Model 600 "Sigaide" — Signal-Stat Corp., New York and Toronto
- 📦 NOS — never installed, never wired
- ✨ Chromed lever with the original green indicator jewel
- 🔌 Full-length wiring loom, uncut and coiled as it came
- 🏁 Universal steering-column mount — not vehicle-specific
- 📖 The earlier and less common design; the later 900 Sigflare is far more often seen
- ⚡ Switch only — the flasher determines your system voltage, so this works on 6V or 12V with the right flasher and bulbs
- ⚠️ Column clamp not included — a standard hose clamp substitutes
🚗 Known Fitment and Applications
-
Universal accessory switch, designed to clamp to a steering column. Not specific to any make or model.
- Period-correct choice for pre-war and early post-war cars converted to directional signals, and for traditional hot rod, bomb and kustom builds
-
Works on 6 volt or 12 volt. The switch itself just makes and breaks the circuit — your flasher and bulbs determine the system voltage, so this suits an original 6V car or a 12V conversion equally
- Signal-Stat's own accessory lamp kits were designed to run with 600, 800 and 900 switches, so this pairs with a period lamp kit if you're doing a full conversion (a complete NOS Signal-Stat lamp kit is listed separately)
- Signal-Stat switches of this era also turn up in military vehicle restoration circles, where trucks and jeeps that left the factory without directional signals were commonly retrofitted
Additional applications beyond those listed may exist.
✅ Condition Summary
New old stock. The switch has never been installed or wired — the housing carries no mounting marks, the lever and jewel are clean, and the wiring loom is full length and uncut. The steering column clamp is not included; everything else shown is present, and a standard hose clamp does the same job. The switch is untested, having never been hooked up, and is sold as-is. Please look through all the photos.
📋 Buyer Notes
Look through every photo before buying — the housing markings, the lever, the jewel and the wiring are all shown, and the photos are part of the description. The column clamp is not included; a hose clamp substitutes and costs very little, but it isn't in the box. Confirming this switch suits your application and your electrical system is the buyer's responsibility, and other applications may exist beyond those described. Untested and sold as-is. Questions are welcome before purchase, and I'd rather answer them first. If you're wiring signals into an early car, there's more in the store worth a look.
