Came out of a running car three years ago, and it came out working.
This is a Signal-Stat 800 "Sigflare" turn signal switch — the cast housing embossed SIGNAL-STAT 800 SIGFLARE, SIGNAL-STAT CORP., NEW YORK – TORONTO, with PATENT NO. 2,507,940 on the face. That patent number dates the design to approximately 1950, which is a firmer answer than most vintage switches can give you.
It's a used piece and it looks it, in the good way — the aluminium has settled into an even patina and the chromed lever with its green jewel is still bright. It came out of a running 1939 Ford Tudor Standard three years ago, in working order — not out of a box of unknowns.
It's exactly as it came off the car. The SIGNAL-STAT R421-6V flasher is still wired into the loom where it was, and the column clamp is still on the switch. Most 800s you'll find are a bare switch; this is the whole installation, flasher and all, ready to go back on a column.

🚗 Known Fitment and Applications
-
Universal accessory switch, clamps to a steering column. Not specific to any make or model.
-
Requires a 6-volt electrical system. If your car is 12 volt, this isn't a direct fit.
- Period-correct for pre-war and early post-war cars converted to directional signals, and for traditional hot rod, bomb and kustom builds
- Signal-Stat's accessory lamp kits were designed to run with 600, 800 and 900 switches, so this works as the switch half of a full period conversion
Additional applications beyond those listed may exist.
✅ Condition Summary
Used original in good working-driver condition. It was removed from a running 1939 Ford Tudor Standard three years ago in full working order; it has not been bench-tested since, so it's sold as-is on the strength of that history rather than a current test. The aluminium housing carries an even age patina and the lever and green jewel are clean. It comes exactly as it came off the car — wiring, R421-6V flasher still connected, and the column clamp still attached. Please look through all the photos; the patina is honest and it's shown as it is.
📋 Buyer Notes
Go through the photos before buying — the housing markings, the patent number, the lever, the wiring and the flasher are all shown, and the photos are part of the description. This is a 6-volt switch, and confirming it suits your car and your electrical system is the buyer's responsibility; other applications may exist beyond those described. Removed working three years ago, untested since, sold as-is. Questions are welcome before purchase. If you're wiring period signals into an early car, there's more in the store worth a look.
